Abstract: Objective To study the chemical structure of a new terpenoid dihydroquinolone alkaloid, named scopuquinolone A (1), isolated from a gorgonian coral-derived Scopulariopsis sp. fungus. Methods The new chemical structure of 1 was identified by comprehensive spectroscopic data including 2D NMR and HR ESIMS. The absolute configuration was confirmed by CD spectrum and the computed optical rotations with the experimental optical rotation. Results Compound 1 was identified as a new terpenoid dihydroquinolone alkaloid. Conclusion The marine derived fungi from gorgonian coral collected from the South China Sea are prolific resources that produce structurally novel and biologically active secondary metabolites. This is the first time to isolate this class of new terpenoid dihydroquinolone alkaloids from the Scopulariopsis genus fungi. |
