Objective To study the meroterpenoid, citrehybridonol, isolated from the gorgonian-derived fungus Penicillium chrysogenum, its crystal structure and bioactivity. Methods The chemical structure of citrehybridonol was determined by extensive NMR and MS spectroscopic data, and its stereochemicl structure was established by X-ray diffraction of single crystal. The bioactivities were evaluated by using cytotoxic and antibacterial models. Results The single-crystal data of citrehybridonol was obtained and reported for the first time. Citrehybridonol was found to be inactive against the tested bacteria and cancer cell lines. Conclusions The data of single-crystal and biological activities provided references for the systematic study of citrehybridonol and its analogues in the future. |
